A Positive Negative: Happy Birthday

I like reversing normal colour patterns by creating cards with colourful backgrounds and uncoloured images.

Die cut a piece of Clarity stencil card using the 6” nested squares die and a mat from black card using the corresponding nested squares picot die.

Stamp the doodle Happy Birthday onto the topper in Nocturne Versafine Clair ink and mask up the letters.

Blend Festive Berries, Carved Pumpkin and Mustard Seed Distress Oxides over the background using stencil brushes, spritz lightly with water, blot and allow to dry naturally.

Add stamping using the background stamps from the Cherry Green’s Insects stamp set in Barn Door, Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber Distress Archival inks.

Remove the masks and mat up the topper.

Add a drop shadow below the lettering using a black Faber-Castell Polychromo pencil.

To finish, add to the front of a 7” x 7” white card blank.
