A Clarity Day Oop Norf

Last Saturday I finally made it to a Clarity Open Day, the one 'oop norf' in Leyburn, North Yorkshire at the Tennant Auction House.  What a day out it was as well!

Everything was so well organised.  We all got a name badge from Steve and a raffle ticket from the ladies on arrival.  Sheila and Sue had all their lists ready to go, the room was set out with demo areas, a Groovi make and take and a chance to improve picot snipping. 

There were also plenty of tempting goodies on display as well of course.

My friend and I immediately went to sign up for the Groovi make and take with Jane and Linda. 

The places went really quickly, so it was a good job that we got there early.

Every hour, on the hour, Barbara Gray held a raffle with amazing prizes.  Such generosity.  My friend won a Groovi starter kit, but donated it back to be redrawn as she already has one.  The young lady who next won it, immediately gave the prize to a little girl who was with her mum.

She was later given a one to one Groovi session by Jane and she took to Groovi like a duck to water.  I really look forward to seeing her amazing finished project.  Jane was kind enough to sign the original project card and give it to her as an additional memory of the day.

Once we'd signed up for the make and take, I made a beeline for Sam Crowe who was working in one of the new watercolour pads, showing a variety of journaling ideas.

Later, I was able to pick up some grid work tips from Josie, the queen of lace work and designer of a multitude of plates which make creating lacy grid work frames much easier.

Tina Cox was demonstrating parchment embroidery and Hazel was working with the starter kit for newbies.

I managed to catch up with Paul Church, who was demonstrating the Fresh Cut dies.

Also Maria Moorhouse, who was working on acrylic shapes with all sorts of goodies, from alcohol inks to acrylic paint, Perga glitter and metal flakes.

Barbara Gray was doing what she loves best, getting inky with three way overlay stamps and transferring paint from stencils using a gel press plate and a 'mangle'.  As you can see, the brayer was getting plenty of action and it was standing room only in her demo area all day.

Abigail presented Barbara with Camden, a booby bear which is travelling around to help raise awareness of breast cancer.  Watch out for him on Barbara's next Hochanda shows as I suspect that he will sneak in an appearance.

I would like to say thank you to all at Clarity who made the Open Day happen.  It was an amazing day out and a real chance to catch up with friends and make new ones.  I will certainly be back.
