This tag was made for the Steampunk Challenge which runs for a fortnight over on Tag Tuesday. I am proud to have won the last challenge (Black and white with a spot of colour) and love Steampunk, so I wanted to have a go at this challenge straight away.
I started by adding the top layer of a paper towel mop up sheet onto a #8 manilla tag using matte gel medium, sealing, drying and trimming. Next I stamped the Cogs from the Cogs and Clocks stamp set by Claritystamp down the left hand side in Acorn Archival ink. I used a stamp platform to ensure a dark image as it was the first time i was using the stamps. I had received a couple of Steampunk style die cuts in happy mail and chose to use them to create my focal point. The heart was already embossed, I simply added Cosmic Shimmer Patina gilding wax.
The dragonfly (a Sue Wilson die) was die cut in kraft card, I simply added Pebeo Antique Gold gilding wax.
I layered up the two pieces by adding glue down the body of the dragonfly only, to allow the wings to move freely. Before adding the focal image to the tag, I went round the top, bottom and right hand side with the Turquoise Blue Van Gogh oil pastel (Royal Talens), blending inwards with my finger. I then used the Sepia oil pastel all round the tag, this time just along the very edge. The focal image was then added. A couple of the Tim Holtz Clippings Stickers finished the tag. I went round the edges of the stickers with the Sepia Sakura PN Micron pen.
