Abstract Background to Journal Page

This journal page started with no particular aim in mind.  I took some pens, stencils and oil pastels to a JJAMMMA journal meet up together with my Strathmore Visual Journal and simply played around.  I didn't finish the page until the next day as there were several ways that I felt it could go.
I started by spraying water over the page and dabbing the nibs of three different Ecoline watercolour brush pens into the pools of water.  This created star burst effects and these pens are not damaged by being brought into contact with water.
Next, I rubbed Van Gogh oil pastels (also from Royal Talens) through the Feather mini stencil from Tim holtz (THMS079) in several places.
The next step was to rub the Twisted Citron Distress Crayon through another of the mini stencils (Herringbone / THMS057).  In places I blended the pattern out to create more of a smooth background.
Finally I added Light Sky Blue Ecoline pen to cover the rest of the background and blended it out with a water brush.  This was as far as I got while at the journal meet up.
To finish the page I decided to turn it into an underwater scene.  I stamped all three layers of the Hero Arts Layering Seahorse stamp using Tea Rose, Monarch Orange and Orange Blossom Archival ink.  I don't have the matching dies, so used the direct cut feature on my Brother Scan N Cut rather than fussy cutting the image.  I also had a tiny die cut seahorse in my stash left over from a previous project and decided to add that too.
To finish, a couple of the sentiments from the Small Talk sticker book (Tim Holtz idea-ology) were added.  The second one was cut in two before being glued in place.
