Journal52 Week 11: Gentle

Once I had found the quote for this prompt, I knew immediately which stamp was going to be the main image for the page.  The idea of a gentle heart tied with an easy thread made me immediately think of the Wire Heart stamp from Claritystamp.  Once I got started, the ideas flowed easily.

I started by stamping the heart eight times onto Sheena's stamping card using Versamark ink, and heat embossing each one with a different coloured embossing powder from the Pearlustre set by Stampendous.  I chose Ruby, Cornelian, Champagne, Emerald, Sapphire, Alexandrite, Tanzenite and Amethyst to mirror a rainbow effect; the hearts were all then cut out ready for the next step.
I wanted to add extra colour and bling to each heart in a random way, so I puffed a little of a coordinating Pixie Powder (from Cosmic Shimmer) onto each heart in turn, and gave them a couple of spritzes of water.  The Pixie Powders pooled into random areas of each heart, depending on where the powder had dropped and created a fantastic mica finish.

I coated my art journal page with black gesso (Pebeo) and dried it with a heat gun.  Once I was happy with the layout of the hearts, I marked where each one would go and added the prompt word 'Gentle' to the background using my favourite Word Chain Alphabet from Claritystamp, Versamark ink and Detail Silver embossing powder.
I felt that the background needed a little extra, so before gluing on the coloured hearts, I used the same stamp and Versamark ink to add extra random hearts to the page.  I brushed over the hearts with Perfect Pearls in a neutral colour as I wanted to keep the background as monochrome as possible, so that the coloured hearts would 'pop'.
I added the coloured hearts to the page, before the addition of the rest of the quote.  This was created using a mixture of my Dymo Letratag to print out some of the words and the rest came from the Big Chat sticker book by Tim Holtz.
