Art Journal Prompts Week 11: Sparkle

I went a bit mad with this prompt; all my tinsel embossing powders were used - some for the first time - as well as my iridescent spray and sparkle.  I also tried a new technique for the background.

I worked in my 8" x 8" kraft card scrapbook; gessoed and dried the page first, then glued down a sheet of black tissue paper using distress collage medium.  I also went over the top of the tissue paper with the collage medium and dried it, which gave the page a dull, almost leather look.
Using the Word Chain Alphabet by Claritystamp, I stamped out the quote, 'Never let anyone dull your sparkle' one word at a time, starting from the bottom.  I had tried out the layout on a piece of copy paper first.  I used Versamark ink and four different tinsel embossing powders by Stampendous for the words: Gold Tinsel for 'Never' and 'anyone', Silver Tinsel for 'let', Golden Ocean for 'dull your' and Copper Tinsel for 'sparkle'.  I deliberately chose the darker tone for 'dull your' as it doesn't stand out against the background as much as the other powders and therefore matches the meaning of those words more closely.  Finally I added three of the Wee Fairies from Claritystamp using the Silver Tinsel powder.
Once dry, I used the iridescent spray and sparkle from Crafter's Companion to add a mist of sparkle over the whole page.  I really like the way that the tissue paper worked as a background.  It stamps and heat embosses beautifully once sealed and I have loads of different colours!
