#dailyart2025: New Year, New Challenge

For this year's daily art I have decided to practise using watercolours in the Clarity Petite watercolour journals.  I spend no more than 20 minutes putting together each piece and have been using a variety of watercolour media.  I am following the prompts on the 365 days of drawing prompts and other art FB group.  Here are my pages for the first half of January.

WOYWW 801/21: What Fabulous Memories

What a fabulous celebration of friendship and memories last week for WOYWW.  It was brilliant that so many of you joined in, including the originator of the idea, Julia who got things started and entrusted me to carry on after 15 years.  So if you would like to show what is on your desk and link in you will be heartily welcome to What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.

I have been thinking ahead to next year and my next daily project.  Thought I'd give watercolour a go as I certainly have plenty of supplies.  I will definitely keep things small though - maybe a splodge one day and then doodle over with a micron pen the next day.
I think this month's #dailycollage2024 pages are my favourite colour combination so far.

I have a parents' evening after school today so will have to finish visits tomorrow morning.  The plumber should be coming to fit a new thermostat to the boiler tomorrow so then I will have heating again as well as hot water.  Stay safe and Happy WOYWW.

Watercolour Figure: How to Cheat!

I am not very good at colouring or drawing for that matter.  That is why I love working with stamped images.  I particularly avoid trying to draw people, so these new stamps designed by Dee Fitzsimmons for Claritystamp were perfect to try and help me get over my fears. I still don't think I am anywhere near perfect, but these images encourage me to keep trying!

A Journal Page in the Style of Fauvism

With a day to spare I have finished the last page in my weekly art journal for 2018 based on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More.  The weekly prompts are shared each Sunday, so the first prompt for 2019 will be revealed tomorrow.  The global prompt for November was Art Movements and week three was Fauvism.  Having done a little research I loved the bright and unexpected colours used by this movement.  I decided to use a stencil as the basis of my page, as I wanted to focus on colour rather than trying to draw something myself.

Pablo Picasso Portrait inspired Journal Page

This week's prompt over on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More is Inspired by Portraits.  The artists to choose from include Pablo Picasso and Frida Kahlo.  As I have previously created a page inspired by Frida Kahlo (see HERE) and I am not the most confident portrait drawer, I went with Pablo Picasso, using an image from Nina's YouTube video as my starting point.

WOYWW 488: It's Not Cheating Honest

I'll start with two apologies, firstly I won't be visiting anyone today as I have an open evening at work and won't  be back until very late, secondly, the photos of my desk weren't taken today (shock horror).  I have got used to the 'working on Wednesdays' routine now and prepare my blog post a day ahead so that I can post it and link up with WOYWW at The Stamping Ground before I leave for work at 7am.  I even comment on the early bird blog posts before I leave.  Today's photos however are a bit of a cheat even for me lol.
My side of the desk was actually only taken yesterday (this morning it has my lap top and the books that I have marked on it: not so interesting).  I was busy creating something to share on my blog and came up with some Halloween themed ATCoins.  You can see my cup of coconut latte and my new purchase, a box of Van Gogh watercolours from Royal Talens.  This photo was taken mid create, but you can see the finished items HERE.
The other side of the desk is a bit more of a stretch.  Eva hasn't been able to make the last couple of Tuesdays, so I took a picture last Thursday when she came over for a crafty afternoon.  She has been working on parchment pieces using the Claritystamp Groovi system and Pergamano tools over the last few weeks and has now more or less finished the white work.  I will take another picture tomorrow when she comes over.
Hope everyone has a good week and I'll pop in over the weekend to see you all.
