Art Journal Calendar Page

I confess that it has been quite a while since I joined in with Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More this year.  In fact the last page that I completed in my art journal was on 10th March and that was catching up with the last of February's pages.  Rather than go back and start the March pages, I decided to jump ahead and instead have completed the calendar page for April (week 3).  The current theme is Easter so I couldn't resist using my hare stencil from Claritystamp as the focal point.  I also love the mood board for this month, so picked elements from that too.
As usual I worked on mixed media card (18.5cm x 19.5cm).  I blended Distress Oxides over the page in Peeled Paint, Bundled Sage and Pumice Stone (outer to inner).
Next, I added Pentart Heavy Matte Gel medium through the NDSC #23 stencil from Claritystamp and added Fine Copper Granite mineral powders from Pentart.  At the bottom, I decided to try some of the Stampendous Aged Rose embossing enamel to see how it would heat emboss over gel medium.  As you can see. it worked rather well.
As I was planning on continuing the Sara Coleridge poem on my calendar page, I wanted to make some flowers.  I stamped the largest flowers from the Birds & Flower Rows stamp set (Claritystamp) in Pink Peony and Chrome Yellow Archival inks and fussy cut them.
I also found some paper flowers out of my stash and coloured them with pastel pink Ecoline ink and a water brush.
These flowers and additional ones were added
along the bottom of the page using a mixture of small brads through the page and acrylic glue to fit the April verse of the poem.
April was added using the Word Chain Alphabet stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed using the Aged Rose embossing enamel.  I went round the outside of each letter using a dark brown fine liner.
To finish, I hand wrote the rest of the verse in the same fine liner.
I know that the flowers are not exactly Primroses and Daisies, but at least the colours are correct.  I must go back and complete the March calendar page now to go with this one and my calendar pages for January...
and February.
