I decided to make my sons and nephew their own personalised door hangers for Christmas. I already had suitable stamps, so it was just a case of deciding on the background colours. Today's door hanger was for my eldest son who has several game consoles and supports the local football team; they play in red and white, so the background colour was an easy choice!
I started by giving the MDF door hanger (one of a set of 5 by CleverCut) two coats of white gesso.
As I didn't have much bright red acrylic paint, I used Rose Madder acrylic for the first layer of top coat.
Once dry I added a top layer of bright red acrylic paint - a much better colour. The Video Boy stamp by Penny Black fit the theme that I wanted to use; stamped using black Archival ink and heat embossed using clear detail embossing powder.
The message was made up using the Worn Text alphabet by Tim Holtz and Stamper's Anonymous. I deliberately used words without repeating letters as I wanted to line up and stamp a whole row of text at the same time - the message was also supposed to be somewhat tongue in cheek.
