Aged To Perfection

The one good thing about having three Christmas birthdays in the space of four days is that you get a break from Christmas crafting.  This card was for my husband's birthday on Christmas Eve.

As it was a 'big' birthday I decided to use the concept of aging: the tree ring stamp by Deep Red Stamps and the Aged to Perfection sentiment from the Bygone A6 stamp set by Sheena Douglass seemed to fit the bill perfectly.  I thought the image of the rings would be boring stamped once, so did so twice; once with the Big and Juicy Foliage pad (sadly discontinued) and once using Tree Branch Archival ink.  I cut down the multi coloured image and matted it onto kraft card leaving a narrow border.  I lined up this image over the larger one - also matted onto kraft card, then added a wider mat in a deeper shade of brown.

The sentiment was stamped separately and matted in the same way.

As an amusing finishing touch, I used the Foliage ink pad to stamp the Birthday Candles stamp by Penny Black all along the bottom of the inside of the card (A4 white linen), before scoring it in half.
