WOYWW 605: What a Difference a Week Makes

Morning and welcome to my weekly contribution to Julia's long running blog get together over on Stamping Ground, where desks are revealed.

My desk today reflects the dual role it will be playing (more than ever) until schools reopen again; used for crafting and also for remote learning delivery when not in school, supporting a Y8 hub of vulnerable children/children of key workers.  This may well continue until half term at the very least so it will be interesting to see how things go, especially with my KS2 classes.  On the positive side, I have kept up my New Year's Resolution to continue a daily drawing.  I find it an even more important way to start the day in these increasingly stressful times.

I was convinced for a long time that I couldn't draw and I am still uncomfortable drawing people and faces, however there are lots of great online tutorials and step by steps online which have helped a great deal.

Hope you are all coping with lockdown and will get round to visiting, by tomorrow hopefully, lesson schedules and Zoom meetings permitting.

Your drawings, as always are fabulous!

My grandson participates in the Inktober project. The first time he participated it was a project for his art class. Now, I think it is just something that he uses to challenge himself!

Be well and stay safe,

I do enjoy your daily draweings and must say I am impressed. Love that husky.
Reading what you have to do as a teacher during lockdown (saw on Julia's blog) it is a big workload. Can understand the parental side of it but oh boy is it putting a lot of work on your shoulders. I still say the teachers should be vaccinated early. Just glad I am out of that profession now.
Happy New Year to you, stay safe and well,
Hugs, Neet 17 xx

Brilliant drawings, Sarah! I love the little smiley worm on the hook LOL! Very inventive as well! Our school's doing much better with the remote learning this time around - back in the spring it was mainly tasks posted online, which required more interaction from us parents, but now they're sticking to the time table and live streaming all lessons. Our new normal, I guess, but it does come with some positives. Take care and stay safe xx zsuzsa #26

Good morning, Sarah!

Glad to know you are teaching from home! So much safer at this time. Our neighborhood children are still attending, but split classes and reduced hours, except if one falls behind. Then they must attend both sessions. Seems like that defeats the purpose, to me.

Hopefully we will find a safe “ new normal “ soon!

I am impressed with your daily habit of journaling!
Stay safe and well
Happy Wednesday

Hi Sarah! Good for you keeping up with the drawing! It is very true the more you do the better you get! I find, even with the couple of weeks I've been Bullet Journaling, that my lines are straighter, I can draw quicker, and copy things better. My hands are just cooperating more! Maybe I will take up drawing again! Have a wonderful week! Lindart #35

Again, you teachers and school staff have had to adjust overnight and start a new series of teaching in two different ways, I sincerely hope it’s not causing you too much stress, your workload must be pushed to a limit by all these changes. Now more than ever, enjoy your down time and don’t forget to honestly allow yourself some do nothing time!

Hi Sarah, Great drawings - love the husky especially. I don't think any amount of online tutorials would give me the confidence to draw! Having said that, LLJ's Do It Badly post has got me thinking... nothing to stop me having a go, then deciding they are rubbish and binning them without sharing them to the world lol. Good luck with the teaching - these lockdowns and changes are having such an impact on children, I wonder if they will ever bounce back! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #14

Your daily drawings are such fun, Sarah, and I'm glad you've decided to continue them this year. I think the more you do, the better you will get and the more your confidence will increase. Doing a little each day is definitely the best way!

HI Sarah, I am thinking the drawing will be a good mental therapy. I still find my self mostly feeling hopeful watching people get vaccinated on the news that life, could start being less isolated soon. ( well next fall but, still) you know what I mean at least there is an end in sight some day. (( HUGS )) ~Stacy #34
