WOYWW565: What a Difference A Week Makes

What a difference a week makes!  This time last week I was expecting to have to be in school today, but as the numbers are so low I have been removed from the rota and I am working from home instead.
I got up early so that I could make a start on a tag before starting school work today.  As I spent three hours of my day off yesterday sorting out paperwork for the visit to Berlin at the end of June (we still have to proceed as if it will be taking place at the moment), I don't feel guilty about starting late today.  Shout out to Y8 pupils as promised!
As you can see, I have different company this week: a signed photo of Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock which was a birthday present from my sister.
I did finish the project that was on my desk last week as you can see.  Eva hasn't received it in person yet, but has seen the virtual version.
I noticed there are quite a few crafters sharing FB lives as we are all keeping ourselves to ourselves at the moment. Those and this virtual weekly get together are the way to socialise at the moment of course.  There were a few more desks linked in with WOYWW last week and I am sure the numbers will grow.  Thanks Julia, for hosting us each week over at The Stamping Ground.
I am looking forward to putting my feet up tomorrow and watching Barbara at 1pm as she shares the new Tina Cox floral spray stamps, stencils and Groovi plates.  Here's a sneak peek of what I made with the two sets I was sent to play with.  Happy WOYWW and stay safe everyone.

Was it a relief to be taken off the rota? I imagine it would be as it allows you more self isolation time.
Why don't you and Eva have a Facetime crafting session together? It could be fun and who knows, you might get lots done. Or have you plenty to keep you going with your samples?
Lovely card for Eva - what a gorgeous bright pink you chose to colour it - that would brighten anyone's day up opening that
Stay safe and well and enjoy your craft session on tv this afternoon.
Hugs, Neet 2 xx

It must be very odd for you working from home without contact with the kids - I hope it's going ok though. At what point will the Berlin trip get pulled? There's so much being cancelled already for the summer I'm surprised it's still on the cards. The pic of BC made me smile!

I love the card for Eva, it is so bright and cheerful. The little snippets of what you've made are looking fab, I like the flower stamps, they especially look good in red. Hopefully they will make their mind up about the trip before you put too many more hours of work in to it.
Stay safe and well and enjoy your TV craft session this afternoon,

Morning Sarah

Same here. We only had 3 children in and there wasn't anything to do in the office that we couldn't do at home as we have to register children and staff differently which can all be done with a phone call.
We are going to one hub school for the town as there are 6 primary's and one secondary all with a few children. They have decided it makes sense to just use one and each have a classroom for their children with a teacher from the appropriate school on a rota. It makes cleaning easier and gives the Head teachers a bit of a break too.
Enjoy your crafty time

Glad you are not going in anymore. We only have 10 children going in and today is their last day so the staff can have two weeks for Easter. I have not had much to do ( working from home) just checking on memos and emails - was invited to do Mental heath online learning and was really excited about doing "something" but it turned out top be only level two so not worth it. I am loving all the demos at the moment - really inspiring - enjoy Barbara's. Take care - Keep safe Soojay #21

Lovely card and beginnings of a project. Well done for adapting so readily to a new normal i.e. "working from home and planning educational trip" which may get cancelled. The vacuum bag is interesting .... I had always bought HEAP certified bags to ensure that the allergy sufferer in the family would be ok when I vacuumed now I am very glad and understand why it was important. Stay safe and keep crafting.

Hi Sarah, big fan of Dominic Cumberbatch here, I think he's been one of the best Sherlocks! Second only to the amazing Jeremy Brett, for me. Loving the look of the samples- very colourful. You saying about Linky numbers, I can remember when I first joined, it was always way over a hundred! People would mainly have a system for visiting- like they'd use the end number of their position, and another, like 0 or 5.Every now and again, an older member pops up again, which is lovely. Stay safe and have a good week,Hugs, Shaz #7 X

I am almost wishing I wasn't working... seem to do more from home than I did in the office... good luck with the Berlin trip - seems a bit odd to be doing it but you never know....... wishful thinking!! Hope Eva likes her card when it arrives. Take care. Helen #3

I'm glad to see you are still crafting and doing things at home - I noticed the great amount of 'free tutorials' and live feeds online but don't watch/do much these days - it's a strange thing, 'cause I have so many ideas and plans. I just can't get myself to start... I do, however, show up in my little atelier every day eventhough I don't create much. Hope to find my mojo back so I can get some art (and workshop lessons) done by the time I get back to my job... Thanks for visiting my blog earlier today Sarah, take care and stay safe! Marit #24

Hi Sarah, another hunk on your desk I see :). It is a strange time to be sure, my grandchildren have homework everyday, I have to print out some pictures for my grand daughter's project in a few minutes, then I put it outside the front door (in a bag) for her to collect, along with some coloured tissue paper as they are doing a heart rainbow later. The days are flying by and I have plenty to do - not always in the right order, I must make a list. Stay safe x Angela # 22

I’m rather glad that you’re off the rota to be honest. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if it started to look as if a trip to Berlin could be likely. Things like that really do seem very out of reach at the moment. So kind of you to have a small worry over my late post. Honestly, in all circumstances, assume it’s a mistake I’ve made with a scheduled post or an over-sleep. I am robustly well and following all the rules! Liking the look of the sneak peek pictures, doesn’t matter how many you have, florals make great stamps! I’m with MArit, I dont watch many lives anymore...I like to be doing and so have to learn the tricks some other way! I imagine that Benedict is rather good company in the shed!

Thanks for the visit. An hope you enjoy your time at home. It will be a change of pace to your favor. Really love the new items you used on those cards. They are beautiful. Hopefully by June we are somewhat back to normal things. We scheduled my mom's funeral for June 22 now it seems it could be trouble only 8 can attend and we have grands coming 1500 miles. I try not to dwell on all this. Thankful for WOYWW and my hobbies, You take care Stay safe and enjoy each day.

Well done, managing to work from home, Sarah. Do you find the discipline to do it, difficult, with your crafty table calling out to you? Lol! Your desk looks very organised and it looks as if you've got lots of nice things in the pipeine to make, too.

Thank you for visiting - I managed to guess all the birds except No. 2 without a hefty hint from my hubby! My favourites are Nos. 4 & 6. As for techno savvy-ness, my hubby is like Lily - lazy, and expecting Ruby to do all the work haha! At least he's able to enjoy his Kindle now, and is back in touch with everyone on his phone. We love our little garden, and are really looking forward to the weather being warm enough to sit up the top again. It's been sunny here, but a very cold wind still. Lily and Ruby say Meow back! As I write this, they are out playing in the garden. My hubby is about to go out again and they can "help" him!

Stay safe and well and keep smiling,
Happy WOYWW,

Hi Sarah, it must be so difficult for School's to plan with these fluctuating numbers - my friend was on rota this week and only 1 child turned up - 4 staff in! Still everyone s doing what they can I guess and those of at home are so grateful for everyone trying to keep the country going. I am loving those flower stamps, might have to check them out. And guess what? I am going to try a FB live for my craft group at 4 - wish me luck!! Stay well, stay safe, Happy WOYWW Cindy #20

These are definitely crazy times we are living in now. I would rather work from home I think! I find I do not want to be close to anyone and I'm getting very tired of all the hand washing and I'm staying home a lot. We just don't realize how much of the outside world we actually touch on a daily basis. I got curbside grocery pick up and then spent a lot of time wiping off everything and putting it on my shelf. I took everything out of boxes and stored away and then of course wash your hands, wash you hands, wash your hands!

It's the same story from most schools Sarah but at least you can keep yourself busy at home and carry on behind the scenes. Must be a pain regarding the paperwork for Berlin we are all in limbo not knowing where we stand from one day/month to another.
Love that bright purple card so cheerful even more cheerful that BC is watching over you hee hee!! Not watched any crafty programs for ages but I will put Barb on to record, tomorrow is my main care day & I have provisions to source, Thursdays are my most least day of the week now.
Take care & that's for sharing WoywW Tracey #25

It must be a challenge distance teaching at secondary - it is hard enough at Uni. Alex is currently on school holidays for two weeks so I don't have to worry about it which is a relief for now. It will be interesting to see what the school produce for after Easter. I love all your creativity - especially Evas card. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay well, With love & God Bless, Caro x (#17)

Hi Sarah, I've been working from home for a couple of weeks and I'm not enjoying it. I'm spending hours in videoconferencing and not getting much real work done! How strange that the Berlin trip hasn't been cancelled, and yet holidays are being cancelled left, right and centre! Love the birthday card and the sneak peek at what you have been working on. Have a lovely week and stay safe and well, Heather xx #33

HI Sarah, ooh that is fun when you have the people who know you best totally get you. ( framed autographed mugshots) :) They are passing out laptops to high school kids here that do not have them at home and are we think at this time not planning to have any students back for the rest of this school year. I have my fingers crossed you can shelter in place and work from home for the next little while too. ~Stacy #29

I love Brian and his Sherlock shows!!! I think I've watched all of them on Netflix a couple years ago.
I hope you get to take your trip! We canceled our summer trip at this point. But it might become a fall trip, we'll see.
Great card and sneak peeks!
Thanks for popping by and have a wonderful week!

Follow your cards on fb every day but haven't seen the one for Eva I love the colours. I wonder how many children are actually doing their online work, my step granddaughter is a teacher and she said not one of the pupils had logged on last week! Keep up the good work. Ani#1

Ah lovely card for Eva gorgeous colours, Sarah! Ah home yet school must be strange. Just cancelled Wimbledon in June July so think Berlin won't be in June.. not with long term view. Last big pandemic in 1918/19 took ages to go.. we're better organised so hopefully a year and over.. guess time will tell though, one day at a time... We may not know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future..
Sorry for late visit! 😊
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless you and all you love, and keep you well in these troubled times. In God we trust.

Hello. I am slowly making my way around to snoop. Maybe that's why it feels like the week goes by so fast. I take too long snooping!! Our schools closed on March 12th and now my boys are doing online classes and work. I think that it's different and does present its challenges but I am confident that it will improve over time. So my boys' online school days are shorter for right now.
I like your company today. I really enjoy his movies. He is a fantastic actor. The birthday card is so pretty. I keep saying I should be making some Easter cards but procrastination is in effect. Thank you for the visit and have a blessed weekend.
