Cameo Triple

This is a relatively quick card to make and it fits into a 6" x 6" envelope.  I must admit that I haven't used my Glitter Girl embossing boards for ages; they seem a little old fashioned.  Having said that, some of the images can come in useful and they make some lovely shaped cards if you take the time to cut round the embossed edges neatly - not something that I am particularly good at; these days I tend to use dies.  I'm entering this in the That's Crafty Challenge - Black and White with a Hint

The card started as a strip of pearlescent double-sided card 35cm x 14.8cm (you can make two of these cards from one piece of A3).  From the left hand edge I scored at 5cm, 10cm, 20cm and 25cm to create the folds.  As I was intending to use the image of a cameo to decorate, I decided to keep a monochrome colour palette.  I already had a suitable piece of black and white patterned card for the small fold backs  (two panels 4.5cm x 14.3cm), but wanted a bolder contrast for the other sections.  I decided to make my own patterned card using black ink through a mask onto white card.  The mask I chose was a 6" x 6" mask by Crafters Workshop called Cosmic Swirl.
It is also available in 12" x 12", but I wanted the more delicate version.  I cut two panels 9.5cm x 14.3cm and one of 4.5cm x 14.3cm from super smooth, white card; laid the mask over each of them in turn and blended over Black Soot distress ink until I had a deep even tone.  Before attaching the back panel to the card, I wrapped a piece of narrow, black, satin ribbon around the right hand side.
To finish, I just needed to create the cameo plaques.  As I didn't have any suitable dies, I went back to a tried and trusty method - using an embossing board; in this case the oval cameo and frame section from the Victoriana Varieties Regal Set 3 embossing borders by the Glitter Girls.  The frame was embossed and fussy cut three times from black linen card; the inner oval was embossed and cut three times from an off-cut of the pearlescent card used to create the card blank; each oval was stamped using black Archival ink and the small cameo by Claritystamp; once matted and layered the cameos were added to the fold back sections (glued only on the left hand side!).
