The mid month challenge over on Clarity Crafts Mini Makes and ATCs is to create a piece 6" x 6" or smaller using your favourite colour with a touch of beige and the theme of self care. This is what I came up with.
I added the outside of one of the masks from Linda's Christmas Floral Rounds to a small piece of Clarity stencil card and masked round the edges with low tack tape.
I blended Antique Linen Distress Oxide through the aperture for the beige element and removed the masking.
Next, I stamped the person reading a book into the circle in Jet Black Archival ink. I love to read and never go anywhere without my Kindle which is full of my favourite books.
I then masked up the image using the mask inner from before.
My favourite colour is red, but I also love autumn colours, so I added Candied Apple and Fired Brick Mini Oxides to a blending mat, picked them up with a watercolour brush pen and brushed them across the bottom of the topper. I went overboard with the water and the colour started to seep under the mask, so I then used dry brushes to add Crackling Campfire, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed Oxides.
When the mask was removed, I touched up the stamping with a black brush pen as I had added the mask before the ink was completely dry and it had pulled some of the colour.I used the Word Chain Alphabet stamps to add 'Relax' in the same black ink as before.
As you can see, I made sure I was happy with my inking up, and tested all the stamps on an offcut of stencil card, before working on the topper.
To finish, the topper was edged with a black Sharpie pen and added to a 4" x 4" white card blank.
