Driving Test Congratulations

There is nothing that makes you feel quite so old as one of your children taking their first driving test.  Mind you, once number two son gets his own car, he will be able to start chauffeuring me around for a change. Unfortunately he takes after me and managed to fail his test right at the end!  I only hope that getting this card ready in advance wasn't a jinx.  He's already booked the next one, so better luck next time.

I have had these stamps by Woodware in my stash for quite some time, but this was the first time that I have had the opportunity to use them.  I decided to keep the background simple; just using the torn up L plate and the P plate stamps.  Initially, I was going to stamp them randomly all over the background (14cm x 14cm), but when I'd completed the first diagonal, I felt that I had done enough otherwise the background would be too busy.  The images were stamped using Black Tuxedo Memento ink as I was planning on using ProMarkers to colour the images (Poppy and Emerald).

The car image was stamped onto a piece of card 5cm x 5cm and also coloured with ProMarkers.  I tried to keep the colour palette to a minimum, so as my car is red and he has driven it for extra practice, I used the Poppy pen again.  Both the topper and the background were matted onto black card leaving a very narrow border.
Finally I die cut the two smallest flags from the Stitched Flags set designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions; the smallest in white and the next size up in black to use as a mat.  The 'Well Done' sentiment also comes from the Woodware set.  This time I stamped it in Black Onyx Versafine ink, matted the flags together and added both the flag and the car topper to the background piece using foam pads for dimension.  The whole piece was added to a 7" x 7" pre made white card blank and the words 'you passed' stamped inside the card. I look forward to finally being able to hand the card over!
