WOYWW 591: A Bit of a Blip

Welcome to the weekly desk share, joining in with Julia at her Stamping Ground blog with crafters from all round the world.

I have a backlog of online workshops to get to and am hoping to make a start at the weekend.  The books in the background are the usual for a work morning, although I am not sure if I will be able to go into work today, as we are still awaiting #1 son's test results from Monday evening.  He has a cough, although no other symptoms, so we are all locked down until we know what's what.  I wear a mask and sanitise regularly when marking books and they never go into the house so there is a buffer zone there.

No Eva this week of course.  Hope to be giving you good news next week.  Stay safe and happy WOYWW.

It never occurred to me that marking books could carry the virus but it all makes sense now. Just another thing a poor teacher has to worry about. So glad I a retired these days.
Do hope your son tests negative as I am sure he will. Also that you get caught up
with the online stuff - I have workshops I joined years ago somewhere in the ether - I need to do them as I get them or they go to waste.
Hugs, Neet 8 xx

Worrying times for you all...I really hope his test comes back negative. My friends here have had it but thankfully not too badly, luckily we hadn't seen them for a week before they fell ill but it's still close to home.

Fingers crossed for a negative result Sarah. Our daughter and her husband were tested two weeks ago and were negative (for now). My daughter is still lecturing on line with very occasional trios into College.

Hi Sarah. Do hope your son's test comes back negative. Yes, we here, it was announced last night, are going into local lockdown tomorrow evening! Feels like we are back to square one - can't even go to see my beloved mountains (They are in Gwynnedd, and I am in Conwy :-( ) - what a blessing it was my birthday LAST weekend, and not this. I am so thankful!
Hope all the marking gets done, and you get back into school soon.
Take care. God bless.

Hi Sarah, I so hope your son’s test comes back negative and that you’re all ok.

Thanks for your earlier visit. I was born in Stoke too but we left when I was 13. Did you ever visit the Knotty Action trust, in Mollart St off Lichfield St, below the old bus station on Hanley? That’s the art centre in the poem. It’s under the Hanley ring road now.
The Coachmaker’s pub is still there, that was opposite the end of Mollart st.

Stay safe and happy WOYWW

I like your washi tape storage - I could do with something like that myself! Hope it's not Covid - my son had a cough too but I knew it was from a cold he picked up at school the first few days he was back (as if the hygiene measure could stop anything spreading!). There was a confirmed case at his school, but they still have to go in - not sure if I feel comfortable about that. We're hoping it will be online tuition again - that worked better for us! I'm working from home again, which is much nicer too - I get more done and I'm less tired! Covid does have some silverlining, as long as we can stay healthy. Take care and thanks for visiting earlier! zsuzsa #21

Hi Sarah, I too hope your son's test comes back negative. I think this is going to be the huge problem going into the winter flu season. People are not going to know which flu they have, and will have to get tested just in case, or others will just go around as normal and hope for the best.Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz X #6.

Well you really can't do much more Sarah. Hope the test comes back negative. It's a nightmare though isn't it - the symptoms are so vague it's difficult to judge how serious things are. Who won't get a cough over the next two months? A chance to get on to those workshops maybe? I have q ton I'd like to do but don't seem to find the time at the mo. However a long winter beckons..... Stay well, stay safe, Happy WOYWW Cindy #22

Happy WOYWW and thank you for your earlier visit. I hope that son's result comes back soon, so at least you know what you are dealing with. Online workshops - I have quite a few that I have started and not finished, plus a very long list of Skillshare classes that I want to do. Definitely not enough time in the week. Ali x #8

As soon as I saw those pink books I knew what they had to be! They talk about symptoms but my parents didn't have any at all not even a temperature so I think a lot of the time it's guess work unless you can get a test. Hope you get the results soon. Wishing you a lovely week and a very happy woyww, Angela x12x

I join the others in saying I hope your son's test is negative and that it's just an ordinary autumn cold.

Thank you for your visit - you sound very organised with your embroidery threads! I'm very happy to be a rummager because I don't bother with numbers anyway - it's just grab the colour I want and go!! Hope you try the tomato soup. The two Misses Lazy open one eyelid a crack and say "meow" back and close it again. Wet windy weather means even more sleepy time!!

Happy WOYWW,

Hi Sarah, fingers crossed your son's test is negative. I don't know how we are expected to proceed anymore as it's now the cough/cold/flu season. We have been banished to working from home again, and I think it will be like that for months. I will go in one day a week, but only about 10 out of 150 people are doing that. Thanks for stopping by - It seems all appointments are delayed, but I'm hoping this is fairly quick, as my back is really quite painful. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #17

Hi Sara, good news about the test result but I wish #1 son a speedy recovery. Are these virtual workshops? I've been participating in cyber crops over the last couple of months but do miss actually meeting up with other scrappers. You must miss Eva. Hope your week goes well. Hugs, Elizabeth x #27

I hope your son is OK, just a cough doesn't sound too bad. That is a big pile of books to get through, hopefully it went quickly so you had time to play! It's sad that everyone is going into more lockdowns. We have more cases now than we've ever had, and most are from Uni students. We were doing so well! Online workshops sound like fun, enjoy! Thanks for your lovely visit to mine, Lindart #28
