Travel and Transport Journal Page

I am still a little behind with my art journal challenges with Mission Inspiration.  This is my response to the August main mission with the theme of Travel and Transport.  The suggested colours were  Earth Brown, Sky Blue and Daffodil Yellow and the prompt words were Flight, Tracks, Map, Destination and World.
As I work on handmade paper in this journal, I always add a coat of Amsterdam transparent gesso to the pages first and dry them thoroughly. Next, I added Cloudy Sky Adirondack paint to the pages and blended with a damp wet wipe.
I happened to find some maps in an old Atlas of Exploration which fitted the colour scheme, so cut them out and added them to the pages.
Next, I knocked the maps back into the background by adding watered down white gesso over the top of the pages.
The Atlas also provided the picture of the sailing ship which I tore along the bottom and added to the right-hand page.
I stamped the SHAC Doodle balloon from the Up, Up and Away set and the three smaller balloons (no longer available) from Clarity onto the left-hand page in Acorn Versafine Clair and heat embossed with clear powder.
I followed up by colouring the balloons in different of brown and yellow Faber-Castell big brush markers, blended out with a Pergamano blending pen and nibs.
I thought that the Tim Holtz Destinations Salvage stickers were perfect to add Travel / Transport as they are letters taken from car number plates.
To finish, I added ‘and’ using the Tall Letterbox Infill Alphabet & Numbers stamps from Clarity in Acorn Versafine Clair and embossed in clear powder.
