The theme for May on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More is Trade It. The second week was postcards or tags. I have been making plenty of tags, but decided to use the post card theme for my second art journal page for this month.
I usually keep my paper towel mop up/stamp cleaning sheets as backgrounds for tags, but decided to use this one on a journal page as the colours reminded me of holidays and I liked the white space that was left. I had used it to clean off my Claritystamp Journaling stamps after an ATC making session. The top layer was added to a piece of mixed media card (18.5cm x 19.5cm) sealed, dried and trimmed.
I added one of the Stamp stamps with the Paradise post mark (Claritystamp) in Library Green archival ink. In keeping with the theme of postcards, I had stamped the postcard stamp from the Portobello Road Urban stamp set (Papermania) onto separate card twice. The stamping was done in Onyx Black Versafine ink and then heat embossed with clear EP. The Wish You Were Here sentiment, from a free stamp set which came with a magazine quite some time ago, was added to one of the postcards in the same way. The two postcards were fussy cut and added to the page. As an additional focal point, the Summer Shades stamp from Claritystamp was stamped and double heat embossed onto a separate sheet of card and fussy cut. I went over the edges with a black Memento pen to prevent the cut marks showing and the glasses were added to the page at a jaunty angle. As a finishing touch, the smaller of the two palm tree stamps from the same set was added to the postage stamp in Library Green archival ink.
