Advent Drawers

This took me ages to make, but I was really pleased with the finished piece; my brother loved his birthday present too.

Everything that I needed to construct the basic piece, including the MDF, all the drawers, die cut panels to neaten the top, sides and back of the finished piece; even the glue, came in the Tivoli packaging by Tonic Studios Forever Moments.  Once I had constructed everything, I gave it a couple of coats of gesso to seal the card/MDF.  Twelve of the drawers were then painted in Cherry Nuvo Acrylic Paint and twelve of the drawers in Metallic Pure Gold.  The carcass was painted in Olive Green and once dry, the edges were rubbed over with gold gilding wax.  I die cut all the necessary numbers from grunge paper, using the Advent Drawer Deco dies by Tonic Studios; then painted them to match each base drawer.
I chose coordinating 'wood effect' papers from the Timeless Texture Stack by DCWV and cut twelve drawer fronts in each of red and yellow.  These were affixed to the pre die cut drawer fronts , which came with the kit, using matte medium and then the numbers were added - again using matte medium.  The top, sides and back panel pieces of the carcass  were covered with green wood effect paper and trimmed before being glued into place with matte medium.  I gave the whole piece a couple of further coats of matte medium (allowing time to dry between each coat), to finish the piece.
