We'll Owl Miss You

I like to theme my cards to match the likes of the recipient, so this leavers card was an easy one.  It also allowed me to use a terrible pun!

I made several cards using the same Brusho background technique in different colours, thanks to a card that I saw demonstrated by Bee Crafty on Hochanda.  The Brushos had been used just on part of the background, leaving plenty of white space and room for a sentiment.  I loved the idea and ran with it as you will see over the next few posts.
I used a 20cm x 20cm white card blank and cut a 19.5cm x 19.5cm piece of black for a mat and a piece of 19cm x 19cm Sheena's stamp card as a base for the Brushos (Orange and Lemon).  The Brushos were sprinkled on along the top half of the card and spritzed with water until I was happy with the result; a little extra powder was needed in places!
All the layers of the (X-Cut) owl were cut from the same black card - apart from the background for the eyes.  I highlighted some pieces using the gunmetal and old gold paints from the Colours by Phill Martin iridescent water colour paint palette (Decadent and Precious Metals) and matted the owl together.  The pupils of the eyes were finished with some of the Twinkles Glitter Glue in gunmetal, although I forgot to wait until they were totally dry before adding the glue to the back of the owl - hence the squashed appearance.  I also cut the largest branch from the Cherry Blossom die set by Spellbinders for the owl to sit on.

The sentiment is made up of one of the sentiments from the Salutations set by Woodware, together with 'WE'LL Owl Miss You' using the Alphabet stamp set by Crafter's Companion.  It has two full sets of upper and lower case alphabets in different sizes, as well as numbers and is really useful when you want to create your own messages.
