End of School Year!

The school year ended yesterday and I finally have some time to blog again.  I seem to have spent the last few weeks on a never ending track of reports, school residential visit, being ill and catching up with marking!  Now I can finally relax, if only for a few days, before I start on the planning and paperwork ready for September.  It's also the time of year when we say goodbye to colleagues who are moving on to pastures new or retiring and over the next few days I'd like to share some of the cards that I made to help say farewell.
The first card was made for the Y7 and Y8 pupils to sign for a well liked and respected pastoral leader.  He will be very much missed and we all wish him well in his retirement.

I decided on the rainbow theme very early on as I had used a rainbow palette of colours to stamp the form names on the insert.  I also have a box of Jolly Nation wooden backed stamps that haven't been used for a while and knew which two stamps would be ideal to represent the start and end of a distinguished career (and an affectionate dig at the change of appearance over the years)!  To get the placement of the rainbow correct, I first stamped and masked off the two figures onto a piece of 20cm x 18.7cm Sheena's stamping card. I then drew in the rainbow using pencil and added colour.  As you can see the ProMarker colours seeped through the masks, so I ended up re-stamping and decoupaging the figures separately at the end.

The words came from several of the Claritystamp Word Chain sets.  The only two which I had to stamp out one letter at a time were 'Retirement' and 'Respect' and for those I used the complementary alphabet word chains set, also by Claritystamp.
Having decoupaged the figures, I decided to use pencils to add colour as a contrast to the bold rainbow.

Once finished, the 'topper' was matted onto black and added to an A4 card (A3 linen folded in half).
