Place Mat Present: Part 2

Happy New Year everyone and welcome back to my blog.  Here is the second and last example of the coaster set that I decorated for one of my sisters for Christmas.  I decorated the coasters on both sides again, but this time using a brighter colour palette.

I started with the Creative Expressions MDF coaster set; the base was given two coats of white gesso, followed by two coats of blue green iridescent paint by Pebeo Studio Acrylics, with each coat being allowed to dry before the next was added.
The coasters were each given a coat of matt medium on both sides, which was allowed to dry before the decoupage paper glue into place - this time I used the Raven and Blue Crack Texture papers by Craft Consortium.
Once dry, the edges were neatened with a file and an additional layer of matt medium sealed the surface of each side of the coaster (allowing plenty of time to dry).  Finally, some purple felt was added to the bottom of the holder and trimmed to protect the surface of the table.
