Thanks and au revoir!

This is the last of the leavers' cards which I made this summer.  This colleague was only with us for a year on a short term contract, but she worked really hard and will be missed.  As she taught mainly maths. I used a numerical background; however she halped out with French and numerous other subjects too!

I kept to the same layers as on all the other cards (20cm x 20cm card blank; 19.5cm x 19.5cm black mat and 19cm x 19cm main background piece).  I used Mermaid Lagoon and Abandoned Coral distress ink on a large Gelli Plate, spritzed lightly with water to create the coloured layer.  As you can see, this was a little too dark for my liking, so I added white acrylic paint dabbed on lightly through the Numbers mask by Crafters Workshop.  I also created a smaller background for the sentiment topper.

Once complete, I over stencilled the main topper using the Sheena Douglass Eiffel Tower stencil and Black Soot Archival ink from the Tim Holtz archival palette.

I then added depth round the edge using Vintage Photo and Black Soot distress ink.  I also went over the sentiment background.  The sentiment was stamped using Black Onyx Versafine ink and heat embossed using clear detail embossing powder.  The stamp is from the Word Block #1 set by IndigoBlu.  I initially matted the sentiment only onto black, but decided that a narrow, white mat was also needed to help it stand out from the main background.
