Journal52 Week 18: Mother

This page was created using the prompt 'Mother' given by Effy Wild on her page Journal52.  The group and links to the rest of the prompts can be found HERE.

The page started with a mop up page from another project which had used Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Luck Clover, Blueprint Sketch and Barn Door Distress inks.  This was glued down and sealed with Pebeo Matte Medium, then dried with a heat tool.

Next, I added the hands stamp by Words Like Honey (WHLC38) using Versamark ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder.  I also added the prompt word 'Mother' with the Claritystamp Word Chain Alphabet the same way.  The 'A' was stamped using Rose Madder archival ink and heat embossed with clear powder.  The rest of the quote was printed out in a medium font using my Dymo Letratag.  I used Spectrum Noir pencils to colour the hands so that the green didn't show through.

I stamped the Wired Heart and heat embossed it using Rose Quartz Pearl Lustre embossing powder by Stampendous, then added the rest of the printed sentiment.  I went round the heart, the hands and the sentiments with matching Spectrum Noir pencils, blended them out with paper stub and added a drop shadow to the stamped letters.
I felt that the background needed something extra, so went through the Tim Holtz Heart Struck layering stencil with the same colours of distress ink as the original mop up page.  I also added a couple of hand prints using the Handy stencil by That Special Touch.  I also chose to go round the sentiment blocks with a black Neocolor II crayon and blended it out with a water brush.  I was a lot happier once I'd finished, but didn't feel that the heart stamped image stood out enough, so I added highlights with my white Signo Uni-ball pen.
