Although this page is in response to the final prompt for 2018 over on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More, I still have two more pages to finish before my 2018 journal is complete. I have time before the first prompt for 2019 is revealed on Sunday! There were five weeks for Festive and I decided to follow Nina's example and create a page to celebrate the new year (especially as it was my first page created in 2019).
I started by blending Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Oxides all over a piece of mixed media card (18.5cm x 19.5cm).
I gave the background a good mist of water and dabbed it off with a paper towel.
Next, I applied Cosmic Shimmer Glitter Kiss through the Claritystamp New Design Stencil Club #42 (fireworks) stencil using Spot On Sponges. I used Ice Blue, Lavender and Antique Rose.
Once the stencil was clean, I repeated using Sky Blue and more Lavender and Ice Blue Glitter Kiss.
The next layer started with an OOPS, I blended Brilliance Moonlight White through the stencil, unfortunately, the stencil wasn't completely dry underneath and the ink ran.
I decided to try and save the background by going back over the (clean and dry) stencil with an embossing pen and added two tone moon glow embossing powders in two places.
For my toppers, I found the letters to make up Happy New Year from the Tim Holtz Grunge Board Swirls/alphas set and painted them in black gesso.
Once dry, I added Renaissance Gold Pebeo gilding wax.
Followed by Empire Gold.
The letters were added to the background using Cosmic Shimmer acrylic glue.
To finish, I went round the page with my embossing pen and added Aged Ivory embossing enamel.
