WOYWW 891/111: A Little Cooler

Welcome to the weekly sharing of desks which is WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?), the brainchild of Julia, who kindly entrusted it to me to continue after the first 15 years of togetherness.  Please feel free to link up your desk and visit others' - we are a friendly bunch.

I can't believe it is July already.  Where did the first half of 2026 go?

My desk shows my daily affirmation cards and also the results of a fabulous workshop with Tilly Tea Dance on Saturday.  The day was topped off by a visit to the theatre to see Willy Wonka, which was an excellent production.

I managed to get four samples made and posted off by Sunday, so it was a busy weekend too.

I have gone green for my July #dailyatc2026 backgrounds, as you will see next week.

It has been far more comfortable in school this week thank goodness - hopefully you have all enjoyed cooler temperatures.

Tomorrow I am off to York with the Lichfield recorder group for the u3a festival.  Another long day, so I am looking forward to a lie in on Friday!

Stay safe and Happy WOYWW.

WOYWW 869/89: Busy Busy

Welcome to the weekly sharing of desks which is WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?), the brainchild of Julia, who kindly entrusted it to me to continue after the first 15 years of togetherness.  Please feel free to link up your desk and visit others' - we are a friendly bunch.

Wishing Neet a continuing recovery now she is back home.

Some of you were not too sure what I

meant by a Groovi plate last week so I have a small selection on my desk today.  They are etched plates to help transfer line art onto parchment using an embossing tool.

This is the finished card that I was working on last week.
Here's the project that I completed at Tilly Tea Dance's workshop last Friday.  It was a great day and good to see Jo as well.

As you can see I am keeping up with the #dailyatc2026.  I spent yesterday afternoon at the U3a recorder group in Lichfield.   It was the first time that I had made it this year and it was so good to play some new music together and catch up with my brother who conducts the group.
Apart from crafting and visiting Mum, I have no other plans this coming week - although next Tuesday is the get together with retired staff from the first school that I worked at.
Stay safe and Happy WOYWW.

WOYWW 862/82: A Musical Week Ahead

Welcome to the weekly sharing of desks which is WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?), the brainchild of Julia, who kindly entrusted it to me to continue after the first 15 years of togetherness.  Please feel free to link up your desk and visit others' - we are a friendly bunch.

My desk this week was taken at the start of the workshop with Tilly Tea Dance on Saturday.  I had the most fabulous time as always and it was good to catch up with Twiglet briefly at the end too.
This was the result, which I think is my best one yet.  Back there in the new year for a flower vase project.
I had the most lovely and unexpected card from Shaz in Oz (left) and a beautiful applique card from Jo too.  I don't expect to get cards as I don't send many - I tend to donate to charity instead of paying hefty postage prices.  I will be placing a Christmas card on my desk on Christmas Eve which will be my card to all my wonderful WOYWW friends and I suggest perhaps we all do that.
My advent jigsaw is growing.  Mum has one too so we are going to swap for next year.

It's a heavy musical week ahead.  We had our last rehearsal yesterday for the joint u3a recorder and orchestra concert next Tuesday afternoon and I also have the SRP (Society of Recorder Players) meet up on Saturday.

Wishing Neet a steady improvement and hoping she is out of hospital before Christmas.

Stay safe and Happy WOYWW.

WOYWW 861/81: Doesn't Time Fly?

Welcome to the weekly sharing of desks which is WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?), the brainchild of Julia, who kindly entrusted it to me to continue after the first 15 years of togetherness.  Please feel free to link up your desk and visit others' - we are a friendly bunch.

Who can believe that it is December already and Christmas Eve in three weeks!

My desk photo was taken on Monday afternoon showing off the latest Clarity goodies to arrive.  I did make a sneaky order or two during the Gray Friday sale weekend too.  They have already been used (look out for my blog on Friday).
My advent jigsaw is going well.
Mum's cats (the 3 P's).

I followed an online tutorial for this one.

Couldn't resist this one! Last page of journal #7.

I will see Twiglet at the weekend as I am attending a needle felting class with Tilly Tea Dance on Saturday. I might take a desk photo there for a change.  I have used my retirement theatre voucher now, as I have booked to see the Fawlty Towers stage show next February.  Went to Costco with Mum and Sister last Friday - totally manic but fun too.

Continuing to send Neet well wishes and healing hugs and hoping she manages to escape the hospital soon.

Stay safe and Happy WOYWW.

WOYWW 853/73: Crafting With A Difference

Welcome to the weekly sharing of desks which is WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?), the brainchild of Julia, who kindly entrusted it to me to continue after the first 15 years of togetherness.  Please feel free to link up your desk and visit others' - we are a friendly bunch.

Another desk with a difference today.  I have taken to doing jigsaws and this is the latest one ready to be sorted.  We pass them round in our family and this is one that I got for Mum for her birthday last year.
I finally completed the one that was a gift from Eva a while back and which I will pass on to Mum.  I bought a few at Lidl at the weekend then realised I would need a bigger board - so I have ordered one.  I will then be able to work on two at once.
Eva and I took part in a workshop with Tilly Tea Dance on Saturday and this was the result.  It was good to meet up with Twiglet too, although if I had known it was her birthday the following day I would have brought a card!

I met up with a group of retired former colleagues yesterday lunchtime from my very first teaching job.  I hadn't seen most of them for nearly 30 years so it was really good to catch up.

Later today I am heading to Lichfield for the U3a showcase.  It is the first time I have been able to play for this as previous years I was at work.  I love retirement.

Stay safe everyone and Happy WOYWW.

WOYWW 819/39: Home Stretch

Welcome to the weekly sharing of desks which is WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday), the brainchild of Julia, who was kindly entrusted it to me to continue after 15 years of togetherness.  Please feel free to link up your desk and visit others' - we are a friendly bunch.

As promised, my desk this week shows the projects I completed on Saturday at Tilly tea Dance's workshop.  I was really pleased with the finish piece.  It was great to catch up with Jo, Max and a school friend of mine who came to the workshop too.  I have three more workshops booked for 2025 and am really looking forward to them.

The internet is still dodgy in the shed!
Had to come up with a different view after 'self care' last month.

Some challenging prompts this week - especially the last one.

Yesterday was a musical day as I had my recorder group in the afternoon and then a taster session with the new Magical Voices choir that has just started in Stoke on Trent.  Songs from the musicals including Les Mis.  Great fun, but I won't be joining up until I no longer have to get up early for work on Wednesdays.

It is half term next week at least!

Stay safe and Happy WOYWW.
