WOYWW 856/76: Still Sample Making

Welcome to the weekly sharing of desks which is WOYWW (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?), the brainchild of Julia, who kindly entrusted it to me to continue after the first 15 years of togetherness.  Please feel free to link up your desk and visit others' - we are a friendly bunch. 

As you can see, I have progressed with the jigsaw but have now hit a roadblock.  I can only work on the remaining sections in good daylight.  So challenging, that I have divided the remaining pieces up by shape and am often resorting to trying them one by one until I find the one that fits.  There is nothing I can show you on my craft desk.  I have been working on more samples over the weekend and am now getting on with my ATC and PTC (parchment trading card) ready to swap at the beginning of November.

I am off to the theatre this evening for the 30th anniversary River Dance Tour.  I booked it over a year ago thinking it was for last October lol.  Yesterday afternoon was our regular recorder get together in Lichfield.  Friday is my weekly get together with Mum.  We are going to go to 'Spoons for a late breakfast.

Winter Christmas Card Ideas

 I thought I would share some ideas and inspiration for Christmas cards (and one art journal page) using the Winter Wonderland stamp sets, the Bijou Overlay Bauble stamps and the outline and miniatures stamps from Clarity Crafts.  As always, links to the projects are below each photo.

Water Colouring Over Acrylic Paint

I decided to see how water colouring over acrylic paint would work out and used one of the Mr Painter stamps to see.  Not sure if I am entirely happy with the result and I should have matted the sticker onto something, but the concept works.

Sorry You're Leafing

 Another former colleague moved on recently and I made this card for the staff to sign for her.  I used the Elementree stamps again and the Word Chains from Clarity Crafts.

Baubles, Baubles Everywhere!

I thought I'd share some inspiration using the build a bauble stamps and the SHAC bauble stamp sets from Clarity Crafts in time for Christmas card making.  As always, links to the projects are below each photo.

November Calendar Page

 I finally got round to making my November calendar page.  I thought I would use one of the backgrounds created in a recent online workshop with Barbara Gray.  This is how it ended up.

First Christmas Card of 2025

 I recently took part in an online workshop with Barbara Gray using alcohol inks on a gel plate.  It was fabulous fun and well worth a look.  I decided to use one of my many small background pieces to make my first Christmas card (that was not a sample) of 2025.

I am up to my neck with sample making at the moment so unable to share what is on my desk so thought I would show you my jigsaw desk today.  I bought this one from Home Bargains when I was over at Mum's last Friday.  Having to work directly onto the coffee table as it is too long for either of my boards.

The kittens were finished last Thursday and returned to Mum.

I am planning to take a day off on Friday and visit Mum again - we are going to make it a weekly routine now I have retired rather than at a weekend.

Wishing Neet a continued recovery and hoping my card arrived.

Build a Background SHAC People Scene

 I thought I would have a play with one of the backgrounds I created at the Clarity Summer retreats and combined it with the Build a Background SHAC People Silhouette stamps.  I then turned the topper into a card.  Here is how it turned out.

Happy 26th Birthday

 I had a birthday card to make for my son and decided to use the new Build a Background stamps together with the Alphabet and Numbers masks from Clarity Crafts.  I combined them with one of the Barb's Landscapes Backdrop Print Toppers. 

October Mini Make Challenge

 The mid month mini challenge over on Clarity Crafts Mini Makes and ATCs is black and white with a splash of orange.  This is what I came up with after initially adding too much orange.

Autumn Wedding Card

 A friend's son got married recently and I made a card for her to give him and his new wife.  It was an Autumn colour scheme and theme so I thought the Elementree stamps from Clarity Crafts would be perfect for it.

 Half way through October already, so here is the latest round up of my #dailyart2025 from the beginning of the month, using prompts from the 365 days of drawing prompts and other art FB group.  As always, I have been working in my Clarity Petite watercolour journal and using Faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer Watercolour pencils.

I still remember the contours on the map I followed for my Silver DofE expedition when I was at school.
