Halloween Vignette Coffin Tray

I decorated this Vignette Coffin tray from Tim Holtz for a Halloween challenge over on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art (JJAMMMA).  It also fits the criteria for the Halloween Mission on Mission Inspiration, so I will share it there too.

Draw round a Tim Holtz Vignette Coffin tray onto a piece of 12” x 12” Northern Lights designer paper. Cut out the shape and trim a little from each side to fit the inside of the tray.

Paint the inside and outside sides of the coffin in metallic black acrylic paint.

Add the backing paper to the inside of the coffin.

Draw headstone shapes onto black card. Fussy cut them.

Stamp lettering onto the headstones in Versamark ink using the Tall Letterbox Infill alphabet stamps and a discontinued alphabet from Clarity. Heat emboss with white embossing powder.

Add the cross to the bottom of the coffin. Add the smaller headstone in the bottom left corner of the coffin with foam pads.

Stamp two of the Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Pumpkinhead stamps onto Clarity stencil card in Black Soot Archival ink.

Colour them with orange Ecoline pens picked up with a watercolour brush pen and fussy cut them.

Stamp, colour and fussy cut a third pumpkin in the same way.

Add all three pumpkins to the outside of the coffin at the bottom.

Add narrow Washi tape to the front edges of the coffin.

Lay the outer section of the medium moon mask from Clarity onto the backing paper and pounce white acrylic paint through it to create a moon. Remove the mask.

Stamp the individual owl from the Wise Owl set onto Clarity stencil card in Watering Can archival ink.

Colour it, using Faber-Castell Polychromos in shades of Warm Grey, Green (#166/#171 and #112) and purple to match the background (#134), add a touch of orange (#113), then fussy cut.

Stamp a small bat onto the background in Onyx Black Versafine ink and heat emboss with clear powder.

Add the owl to the top of the tall headstone with foam pads.

Add highlights to the headstones and pumpkins using a white gel pen.

To finish, add one of the Tim Holtz Halloween Quote Chips.

WOYWW 556: A Crafty Afternoon Out

I had a lovely crafty afternoon yesterday with some of the JJAMMMA (Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art) group up in Stockport. 

As you see, I have learnt from prior experience (and WOYWW crops) to travel light.  I took my trusty colouring book and pencils.  The Derwent Inktense box were a purchase at Hobbycraft, as they are half price at the moment and I thought I would try them.  It was so good to catch up with friends old and new, as it was last September when I made it to the previous meet up. 

On the other side of the desk, Jane was giving Groovi guidance but was the only one brave enough to be photographed for the blog lol.  There were 12 of us altogether, including Lou, who drove straight there from Peterborough to make the meet up.  Eva was working unfortunately, so couldn't join us.

A is for Acorns and what else?

I made this tag for a friend as a swap.  Each month the JJAMMA group has a swap for a tag, journal page or ATCoins. We are working our way through the alphabet and I decided to use Acorns as the theme for the letter A.  I also managed to fit the letter A onto the tag in other ways, can you spot them all?  Keep reading and I'll let you have all the answers.

The latest ATC swap over on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art is based around the letter N.  It took a little thought, but once again, I found what I needed among my Clarity stamps and stencils.  N is for nautilus, N is for nature and N is for nest.

Festive ATCs

The theme for this month's ATC swap over on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art was Festive/Winter rather than the usual letter prompt.  Once again I had fun with stamps and stencils from Claritystamp.  My partner should have received them by now so I am sharing them here.

The Perfect Background From a Piece of Paper Towel!

The theme for the November tag swap on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art (JJAMMMA) is animals.  I already had one tag made which was suitable for the theme (see HERE), but made the second one especially for the occasion and recipient.  I hope she likes them.

ATCoins on a Journal Page

One of the third challenges to celebrate 5000 members over on Junk journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art (JJAMMMA) is to create 5 ATCoins and use them on another project.  I had previously made a journal page with 5 ATCoins on it (see HERE), but as it had to be a new project this time,  I came up with another page.

This page was created for the July challenge on Mixed Media Art Journey, however, as it also fits the current Gothic challenge over on JJAMMMA (Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art), I am also entering it there.

The Result of an Impromptu Workshop

Once a month, a group of JJAMMMA members (Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art) get together to catch up and craft together.  At our latest meet up in Stockport, Louise Withers threw an impromptu workshop with the materials we had between us and some new stamps that she had brought with her.

WOYWW 475: On the Road

Morning everyone. We all made it back from Berlin safely and I have just about caught up with my sleep having averaged about 4.5 hours a night for 5 days.  This week I should have more time to visit everyone, once I've analysed some data and made 6 more leavers' cards; it's a good job that I have an extra day off this week.

My desk this morning shows the results of yesterday's monthly journal meet up in Stockport.  The colouring page was a gift from one of the ladies, the page peeking out from underneath the result of an impromptu workshop that Louise Withers gave us and the background what I got up to with some Amsterdam acrylic paint and a scraper.  Why am I sharing a picture of my desk? To link up with the long running weekly blog share - WOYWW - run by our illustrious leader Julia over on the Stamping Ground.  I will be sharing a full step by step of the workshop later this week (with Lou's permission) so pop back if you want to see more.

On the other side of the desk yesterday, one of the ladies did her own interpretation of Lou's workshop.  Eva couldn't make it as she had a meeting, but normal service should be resumed next week.

Quick Canvas Board: Mixed Media

This is a project I did for the last Royal Talens show with Lou Withers.  It was made in honour of her Facebook group Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art; hence the initials JJAMMMA.  We are a very friendly bunch and are just about to celebrate 5000 members with a well sponsored mega challenge, so feel free to join us.

These tags were made for the May tag swap over on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art (JJAMMMA).  They are currently winging their way to Australia, so I won't be sharing them with the FB group until I know that they've arrived.

Artist trading Coins: Using my Initial

There was a recent timed challenge over on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art (JJAMMMA).  It was to make some Artist Trading Coins using our own initials as inspiration.  I was too tired at the time to take part in the challenge, but couldn't resist having a go later on.

Artist Trading Coins: Blue and Yellow!

The latest challenge over on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art (JJAMMMA) involves making Artist Trading Coins, a new phenomenon introduced by Joanne from Craftyhodges.  I shall also be sharing these on Nina Ribena's Art Journal Prompts and More as they fit the May prompt 'Trade It'.  The colour scheme to be used in the challenge was blue and yellow which I love in combination.

ATCs: B is for...

The prompt for the monthly ATC swap over on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art is the letter B.  As I have worked on that prompt before, I had to be mindful not to repeat myself.  All stamps used are by Claritystamp as always for my ATCs.

Tags with a Feather Theme

These tags were made for the April Tag Swap over on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art (JJAMMMA); the theme was 'Feathers'.  I thoroughly enjoyed making these and was so pleased at the way they turned out.  I hope my swap partner feels the same way!

Abstract Background to Journal Page

This journal page started with no particular aim in mind.  I took some pens, stencils and oil pastels to a JJAMMMA journal meet up together with my Strathmore Visual Journal and simply played around.  I didn't finish the page until the next day as there were several ways that I felt it could go.

WOYWW 463: Road Trip!

Welcome to the weekly desk visit hosted by our great leader Julia over on the Stamping Ground.  Today she is sharing news of the impending ninth anniversary of this weekly blog link up.  My desk shots today weren't taken in the shed, as yesterday was the regular journal meet up at Stockport Hobbycraft of the JJAMMMA group (Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art).

My desk shows some of the items that I took with me to work in my Strathmore Visual Journal and the start of a background using my Ecoline pens.

On the other side of the desk, Eva had brought some colouring with her and had already taken advantage of some of the offers in store.

Kaz had brought some items for collaging in her journal.

Paul had brought some stamping and colouring and Lou was also working on water colouring.  I didn't take pictures of the other 'guests', but a good time was had by all.  Happy What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday!

A Bit Box Collage Journal Page

This page was created for Explore Your Creativity Challenge 11 over on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art (JJAMMMA).  The technique to be used was collage, using die cuts and cutting with a multicoloured colour theme.  I went into my bit box for off cuts, ready die cut items and bits of card that were big enough for die cutting and this is the result.
