WOYWW 795/15: Birthday Treats

Welcome to WOYWW, the blog link up of desks which was started over 15 years ago by Julia and kindly entrusted to me.

My desk this week shows three gorgeous felted pictures by Tilly Tea Dance which I treated myself to for my birthday last Thursday.  I bought the largest and smallest while out with Eva last Tuesday at the Shropshire hills Discovery Centre and the one on the right was on Twiglet's desk last week.  I made enquiries as to the price and sent off for it.
I am off out for my annual health review this morning so will do most of my visiting on my return.  I will be walking there and back - I am doing a lot more walking these days, and will be interested to find out how much weight I have lost since my last check.  My twin sister had a small stroke last week following a positive test for Covid.  Thankfully she was treated quickly and is now fully recovered from the effects but taking it easy - no 10 half marathons in 10 days as she originally planned.

Stay safe and thanks for joining in with WOYWW.

WOYWW 688: Nice weather

Welcome to the weekly desk sharing with Julia and the WOYWW crowd at Stamping Ground.  Jump in, the water's fine.

I noticed that Tilly Tea Dance had added to her Etsy shop and couldn't resist another piece of beautiful art work to go with the 6 I already have.  In front of that is my latest indulgence - a Garklein - the smallest recorder you can get and played with the almost the same fingering as a descant (or soprano as known in the US).  I can get my fingers onto it so just need to practice now.  It was recorder group yeterday afternoon and I had a thoroughly fabulous time.  I am heading to another recorder group on Saturday which meets monthly and is run by my former secondary school music teacher.  We have known each other since I was 12 and she is a recorder specialist.

As you can see the #dailychallenge2022 has passed through a school phase and is now into a service/construction vehicle phase.  I was thinking of Lynne when I did the construction pages.

Stay safe and happy WOYWW everyone.

WOYWW 656: Quiet Christmas

Happy WOYWW - another palindrome for LLJ to celebrate.  I hope you have all had a pleasant, safe Christmas.  We kept things small and did as we did last year and went over to our two eldest sons' place to cook Christmas dinner together (and delicious it was).

I can finally show the results of my first Tilly Teadance needle felting workshop as Mum's birthday was on Monday.  We were going to celebrate together, but Mum and Dad decided it was safe to postpone a big family get together until Dad's birthday in May, so we will have a double celebration then.  I did get a chance to video chat though and she liked her present.
This photo shows my version of Max's seagull which I also started at the workshop and finished as a Christmas gift to my sister.  Not a patch on Maxine's work but I was pleased with the result and my sister liked it which is the main thing.

I am coming to the end of my daily drawing challenge.  I may try a 5 minute journal page a day as an alternative in 2022.  I have a 4" x 4" spiral bound kraft card scrapbook and have already started gessoing pages to get ahead.  I will have to see how things go though as I am not so sure I will be able to keep this going on a daily basis and it may become a once a week project instead.  Happy WOYWW.  Stay safe everyone.

WOYWW 648: What a Crafty Week!

Well I certainly made the most of my crafty time over the last week.  Welcome to my weekly desk share, linking up with WOYWW via Julia's Stamping Ground (well worth a visit).  Where to start...

Same old same old on my desk, but last Thursday I had a visit from Eva on the other side of the desk.

She was working on parchment pieces while I was mooching around.
On Friday I tried my hand at needle felting for the first time at a workshop taught by Tilly Tea Dance.
It was really great to meet her for the first time face to face and also catch up with Twiglet.  I learnt a great deal and may just be hooked lol.
These are just some of the gorgeous samples we had to inspire us as we worked.

Yesterday I drove up to Manchester to meet up with the JJAMMMA crowd for the first time in nearly two years.  I travelled light and only took some colouring with me.

Lou and Rizwana

Glynis and Gill

Jane giving Sylvia parching tips

I will catch you up with the latest drawings next week as this post is already so long - the last of the #inktober2021 drawings can be found HERE if you can't wait lol.

No meeting after school this evening but I may stay on and get a set of books marked before I come home - I like to get ahead of myself.  Stay safe and happy WOYWW.

WOYWW 647: Workshop Here I Come

Welcome to a relaxing WOYWW contribution - it is half term and I am scheduling this so I can have a lie in.  Please visit Stamping Ground where Julia will explain more about the weekly desk sharing.

The desk shot is as boring as ever, but I can't share the secret stuff I am up to ready to post on Friday as it won't be available until next Wednesday.  I am expecting Eva later and we will have a lovely day crafting together.

The daily drawing is still going strong.  I am really looking forward to Tilly Tea Dance's workshop on Friday where I will be learnin gthe art of needle felting a picture - hopefully it will be good enough to give to my Mum for her 80th birthday later this year so I won't be sharing it straight away.  Stay safe everyone and Happy WOYWW.

WOYWW 644: Workshop Ahead

Morning and welcome to the weekly desk share with my friends at WOYWW, led by Julia at Stamping Ground.

My desk today shows some of the stencils, stamps and papers that I have been playing with recently.  They are by Sam Crowe and I had such fun getting creative with them - if you pop back over the next couple of days you will see some of the samples I made with them.

#inktober2021 is now in full swing and I have been using the official prompts for my drawing a day challenge.

I am very excited because I have booked a spot on Tilly Tea Dance's first face to face workshop on the Friday of half term week.  Unfortunately Eva is unable to go with me but I am sure I will have a great time and learn a lot.

Late training after school this evening so it will definitely be tomorrow morning before I get round to visit most of you.  Stay safe and Happy WOYWW.

WOYWW 628: Only Four More Wednesdays

WOYWW 625: Post Anniversary Treat

Back for a nother week of joining in with the fun and fellowship which is WOYWW - one week closer to the 13th anniversary in 51 weeks time lol.  Please feel free to join in or just visit via Stamping Ground, where Julia keeps us all organised.

My desk this week shows the latest additions to my Tilly Tea Dance felted picture collection.  I decided to treat myself.
They look rather good in my gallery, along with a hand made pottery bowl which was a birthday gift from Barbara Gray.
I did manage to make two ATCs for the anniversary which have been sent off to my PIF (Bleubeard and Elizabeth) and Julia.
Yesterday I received beautiful happy mail from Sylvia (on the right) all the way from Iowa, USA and a totally unexpected gift from Zsuzsa - I am so sorry that I don't have any ATCs left to send in return.
I have also been keeping up with my daily drawing resolution.

I am not sure that my penny farthing would get very far alas.  Thanks for all the visits last week - I made it round to everyone eventually.  I'll be round in the morning to see everyone, as I have a meeting after school this evening - roll on next week's holiday!  Stay safe and Happy WOYWW
