WOYWW 453: Crafting at a Distance

Hi everyone and welcome to my contribution to What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday (WOYWW), a weekly blog link up hosted by the fabulous Julia at The Stamping Ground for over 8 years.  I usually have a crafty friend with me on a Tuesday (when I take my pictures and prepare my blog post), but Eva was feeling poorly and quite rightly stayed in bed.  I did still have some companionship, as Ellie (The Glittered Poppleberry) was crafting with me via Skype, so I wasn't talking to myself all day lol.
My side of the desk shows the start of a birthday card (based on an idea of Eva's as you will see shortly).  I will be sharing the finished card tomorrow if anyone is interested.  I had just finished stamping the sentiment and was about to start using my tapestry stamps and mini archival inks to add flowers and foliage into each square.
The other side of the desk shows Eva's version and inspiration for my card.  I hope she is feeling better soon and that we can get together next week to craft; that side of the desk is looking rather lonely.

WOYWW 440: Long Distance Crafting

Happy What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?  Julia will explain more and is the gateway to desk addiction once a week!  As regular readers will know, my desk photos are always taken on a Tuesday as that is when I have a regular crafty visitor on the other side of the desk.  Yesterday was a little different in that, in addition, Eva and I were also linked in with Ellie (The Glittered Poppleberry) via Skype as we live over 100 miles apart. Ellie is a new desker (who joined in with WOYWW for the first time last week) who Eva and I got to know through a Facebook group.  We have only met up once in person (at a craft show in Telford) but often chat long distance and craft in our respective spaces at the same time.
I was busy creating a birthday card for my eldest son who turns 25 today (sharing tomorrow for those interested) and was using my Grand Calibre to die cut the card front.
Eva was working on some Groovi parchment work so didn't bring quite as much with her as usual!  She has a fantastic sense of composition, but it trying to improve her snipping skills.

Apologies if I don't visit you until the weekend.  I have rather a lot of data analysis to complete and some writing assessments to mark so will be rather busy until then.  (Good job I've already sorted my next two blog posts!)

WOYWW 397: New Resolution

My side of the desk.
My friend's side.
It seems like such a long time since I participated in WOYWW hosted by the lovely Julia.  This time last week I was madly getting ready for my first day back at work after the new year.  Things have calmed down a little now, so I am practising my new resolution; blog and craft every day when you are not working.  As I only work part time (3 days a week), it will be a challenge to blog even if it is a pleasure to craft.  Today's photos were actually taken yesterday on my regular crafty day shared with a friend.  They show my side of the desk and hers.  I was working on an art journal page for Mission Inspiration and my friend was working on a set of wedding invitations.
I shared the step by step for the finished journal page yesterday (you can find it HERE).
The finished topper
I have discovered an alternative way of gaining crafty company when my friend can't make it.  Another crafty friend, who lives far too far away to craft with me in person, Skypes with me and we work on our own projects in our own homes.  We can show each other what we are working on and keep each other company while we craft.  I find I always get more done when I craft in company (even if virtual rather than actual company), so this is great.  Now I just need to get all my work done for school tomorrow so I can keep my Skype appointment for later this afternoon.
