Animals Real or Imaginary

I was invited to be a guest designer for Try It On Tuesday using the theme of Animals, Real or Imaginary.  I decided it was about time I cracked open my new art journal and used some older Clarity stamps - Safari Animals.

I started by applying a layer of watered down white gesso to the page to knock back the background.

Next, I added the lions from the Safari Animals stamp set in Jet Black Archival ink.

Followed by the zebras in the same ink and the giraffes in Vintage Photo Distress Archival ink.

The animals were then masked up.

I then spritzed the background with Distress Oxide sprays in Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Ripe Persimmon, Carved Pumpkin and Crackling Campfire.

Followed by Distress Spritzes in Barn Door and Rust Hinge.

Once the masks were removed, I coloured the giraffes and lions using Faber-Castell Polychromos (#185, #184, #183, #186, #188).

Then added shading (#271).

I then labelled each of the animal groupings using the Clarity Word Chain Alphabet in Jet Black Archival ink.

To finish the page, I added a couple of Woodblock Stickers.

Then went round the edges of the page in Vintage Photo and Jet Black Archival inks

Thank you for the demo Sarah. I like the use of the sprays. I forget I have them.
This idea could be applied to other stamps.
