Quarantine Quickies #65 & #66: Red Herring / Treasure Chest

One of the favourite things I find about making these pages for my tag journal (following the prompts over on Mission Inspiration) is working out which stamps, stencils, masks and dies I can use from my extensive Claritystamp collection.  It is very rare that I have to use additional items to fulfil a prompt. 

For the red herring prompt, I liked the idea of the fish swimming against the tide of the others.  Cover a #8 manilla tag with a piece of inky copy paper, seal with matte medium, dry and trim the excess.

Lay the Clarity Pond Fish stencil over the tag and pounce Cobalt archival ink through the apertures.

Stamp one of the Tropical Fish onto a book page in Black Soot archival ink.

Add Crimson Brusho to the page and spritz with water. Dry thoroughly.

Add further colour with Derwent Inktense pencils, blended out with a watercolour brush pen. Dry thoroughly.

Fussy cut the fish and add it to the tag.

Add highlights using a white gel pen.

To finish, add the prompt with a black Posca pen. Add a drop shadow with a white gel pen.

I also enjoy going through my pile of inky paper towels and pieces of copy paper to find the ideal background.  I chose to interpret the prompt 'Treasure Chest' both literally and figuratively.  Cover a #8 manilla tag with the top layer of a piece of inky paper towel, seal with matte medium, dry and trim the excess.

Tear another piece of inky paper towel and add it at the bottom, seal, dry and trim in the same way.

Stamp a treasure chest (for once not from Clarity) onto Clarity stencil card in Ground Espresso archival ink.

Colour it using water colour pencils, blended out with a watercolour brush pen.

Fussy cut the image and add it to the tag.

Add shading using Faber-Castell big brush markers, blended out with a Pergamano blending pen and nibs.

Stamp Art, Family, Home (Mini Word chains 1 & 2) and shorten Friendship (Mini Word Chains 7 & 8) to add Friends using Onyx Black Versafine ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

To finish, add the prompt with a black Posca pen.
