The ninth anniversary of What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday? (WOYWW) is coming up on May 23rd. It is a tradition that ATCs are swapped to celebrate the event and I will be making nine of them. I decided to try out some different colour combinations to make backgrounds using my Distress Oxides, as I want them all to be a little different. So far, I have only finished the backgrounds, but I like the variety of combinations that I have found so far.
I worked on Sheena's stamping card cut to ATC size (2.5" x 3.5"). All the backgrounds were created in the same way: two different colours were blended onto each background, then a third, lighter colour blended over the top of the whole ATC. Finally, each background was given a light spritz with water and dried. One of my favourite results came using colours that I wasn't sure would work together.
I started with Seedless Preserves (top) and Picked Raspberry (bottom).
Blended over with Worn Lipstick.
After a spritz of water and drying.
Next came Picked Raspberry (bottom) and Worn Lipstick (top).
Blended over with Tattered Rose.
After a spritz of water and drying.
Seedless Preserves (top) and Wilted Violet (bottom).
Blended over with Shaded Lilac.
After a spritz of water and drying.
I changed colour family for the next group of three. First I went with Forest Moss (bottom and Peeled Paint (top). Blended over with Twisted Citron. After a spritz of water and drying. Next, I combined Evergreen Bough (top) and Lucky Clover (bottom). This background was blended over with Bundled Sage. After a spritz of water and drying. Finally in this colour way I used Forest Moss (bottom) and Cracked Pistachio (top). Blended over with Bundled Sage again. After a spritz of water and drying. For the final set of three, I started with Blueprint Sketch (top) and Faded Jeans (bottom).
Blended over with Salty Ocean.
After a spritz of water and drying.
Next came Mermaid Lagoon (bottom) and Broken China (top).
Blended over with Peacock Feathers.
After a spritz of water and drying.
Finally, the colour combination I like the most, but wasn't sure if it would work. Peacock Feathers (bottom) and Cracked Pistachio (top).
Blended over with Twisted Citron. After a spritz of water and drying.
