The latest prompt over on Try It On Tuesday is Spring Fling. I thought this art journal page would fit the bill - it is quite simple, but trying a new technique; using embossing powder over the top of texture paste.
I started by creating a background using many shades of green Distress Oxides. I blended Lucky Clover, Peeled paint, Forest Moss, Evergreen Bough and Bundled Sage over a piece of mixed media card, building up the layers until I was happy. The page was then lightly spritzed with water to create the oxidisation effect and dried thoroughly with a heat gun.
Using the NDSC #23 stencil of a hare by Clarity Crafts, I added texture with Pebeo High Density Modelling Paste. Once dry, I rubbed Distress Glaze all over the page to seal in the ink.Having cleaned and dried the stencil, I replaced it over the texture paste and dabbed Dylusions Melted Chocolate paint all over the image. Having removed the stencil and before the paint was entirely dry, I added Golden Sand embossing powder to areas of the image and melted it with a heat gun.For further interest, I drew over some of the raised areas with an embossing pen and added Copper Tinsel embossing powder, heating with my heat tool to melt it. I decided to keep the rest of the page simple as I liked the background so much. The prompt 'Spring' was added using New Design Club stamp #113 from Clarity Crafts (available as a back order if you were not a member of the stamp club when it was released). It was stamped in Versamark ink and embossed using Ancient Copper detail EP from Cosmic Shimmer. The question mark from the Word Chain Alphabet was added in the same way. The Twisted Citron Distress Marker was used to add colour.I realise that the image is of a hare, but I still decided to use a play on words for the rest of the quote 'Did somebunny say...'. It was printed onto plastic using my Dymo Letratag in a medium font, trimmed and added to complete the page.
