Eileen Hull Journal Cover using Leonie's Arty Arrows Stencil

This is the journal cover that I made using the Eileen Hull Journal Die, decorated using one of the new stencils designed by Leonie Pujol for Claritystamp.

I started by die cutting the Eileen Hull XXL Sizzix Bigz die twice out of grunge paper.  The covers were lined up along the spine and stuck together using strong double sided tape.
Having given the cover a coat of black gesso, inside and out, I added Amsterdam acrylic paint in Raw Sienna and Burnt Umber as a base coat once the gesso was dry.  This was also allowed to dry thoroughly.
Next, I pounced Copper and more of the Raw Sienna paints through the arty arrows stencil to create a pattern on the outside of the cover.  As you will see, I later went back and added more detail to the back (left of photo) and the bottom of the front.
I then followed the instructions given to thread copper elasticated cord through the cover to create the closure and allow for signatures to be added.
To add further interest on the front, I used the 'Look Here' words from the arty arrows board set and decorated them.  First with black gesso, then by adding Viva Rusty and some Raw Sienna.
I then went back over with some Burnt Umber and a little Gold Gilding Wax.
These were glued to the front of the cover, below the elastic closure.
I then went back in with the arty arrows stencil and the Copper and Raw Sienna paint to add further detail.
