From Empty Tin to Decorated Goody Box

I decorated one of these boxes at a workshop with Maria Moorhouse quite some time ago (see HERE) and decided to decorate a second box in a similar manner for my other sister.  Both boxes were filled with bath goodies as gifts.
It started life as an empty tin which had held gaming cards.  It was covered with tissue paper to enable paint to stick to the surface.
The tissue was then given several coats of black gesso with drying time between each coat.
I found the grunge board / MDF shapes that I wished to use for decorating the sides and lid.  The letters are from the Grungeboard swirls/Alphas set by Tim Holtz and the MDF bunnies were bought at a craft show.  The swirl at the bottom was die cut twice from cardboard packaging using a Crafts Too swirl die and the two layers glued together for extra strength.
All these elements were given a coat of black gesso.
Once dry, they were added to the front, back and lid of the box using Cosmic Shimmer acrylic glue and given another light coat of gesso.

To add colour,  I used Pebeo renaissance Gold gilding wax to start with, followed by Amethyst, Vintage Blue and Graceful Pink Cosmic Shimmer gilding wax.    The top edge of the box was also finished with some sparkly gold washi tape.

The bunnies are supposed to represent Mrs Rabbit, Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton Tail and Peter as my sister loves Peter Rabbit.
