Grunge Tags!

These tags were made for the May tag swap over on Junk Journals and Mindful Mixed Media Art (JJAMMMA).  They are currently winging their way to Australia, so I won't be sharing them with the FB group until I know that they've arrived.

I started by adding a deli paper mop up sheet which had been sent to me in happy mail to two #8 manilla tags as I wanted to create a coordinating pair.  It was sealed with matte medium, dried and trimmed.

Next, I stamped over the background in areas with the Cross Hatching stamp from IndigoBlu (Collector's Edition #3) using Carnation Red Archival ink.

To add further interest and colour, I used the XXL stamp by Carabelle Studio Background with Circles on my glass mat and inked it up with Bright Tangello Archival ink.  Each tag was laid face down on the stamp in turn, re inking in between, so that part of the image covered the whole tag.

For the next layer, I heat embossed the Splattered Heart stamp (designed by Limor Webber for IndigoBlu) onto each tag.  On one,  I chose detail white EP and for the other, detail white EP.

Black paint spatters were added to the white embossing and white paint spatters over the black embossing.

Using the Claritystamp Word Chain Alphabet,  I spelled out the word 'Grunge' and stamped and heat embossed them using the opposite colour EP as used for the Splattered Hearts.

Finally, the same sentiments were used on each of the tags, black backgrounds on the white heart and white backgrounds on the black heart.  They are from the Small Talk sticker book by Tim Holtz idea-ology.  Each one was given a faux stitched edge in black/white pen as appropriate.
