Gouache Flowers!

This was another sample for the Royal Talens shows with Lou Withers on Hochanda, using Gouache paints.  For this card topper, I decided to turn splodges of paint into flowers.
I worked on Sheena's stamping card (14.3cm x 14.3cm), adding small amounts of colour and spreading them out with a damp/wet stippling brush; a tear off palette allowed mixing of colours to provide a greater variety.
By adding more or less water to the brush, I could dilute the intensity of the colours.
I then used an 05 black Sakura Micron pen to outline the flowers free hand and also started to add detail in a spiral pattern.
I switched to an 03 pen for the details.
I didn't like the white space in the background, so carefully painted those areas in green.
The fine liner was then used to add veins to the 'leaves' and the topper was matted onto black card (14.8cm x 14.8cm).
Finally, an appropriate sentiment from the Wildflower Sentimentals stamp set (Crafter's Companion) was stamped and heat embossed (Onyx Black Versafine ink and detail clear powder), trimmed and matted onto black, then added with foam pads for dimension.
