JJJAMA Challenge 25: Yellow, Teal, Gold, Myth/Mythology

I had the perfect stamp set for this week's challenge from Junk Journals Junkies and Mindful Art: the Sea View Collection by Sheena Douglass which came free with Creative Stamping a couple of months ago.  The colour scheme was yellow, teal and gold and the theme was myth or mythology, so the mermaid and under sea stamps were spot on.
I started by laying down some Decadent Teal colour cloud by Phill Martin and Cosmic Shimmer over the top part of the page.
I then added some Yellow Ochre and Medium Yellow Reeves acrylic paint along the bottom, using a sponge to give texture.
The coral, starfish and seahorse stamps were stamped directly onto the page, using Versamark ink, and embossed with Gold Heat It Up embossing powder.  They were then coloured in using the Fossilized Amber distress marker.  The message in a bottle was also stamped with Versamark ink, but embossed using black embossing powder; the 'message' was coloured with a white Permapaque pen.  The mermaid was stamped twice using Jet Black Archival ink; once directly onto the page and once onto a sheet of Sheena's stamping card.  The second image was coloured using distress markers and fussy cut (minus the strands of hair) before being glued over the image stamped on the page.
To add interest and texture to the background, the mermaid quote was stamped multiple times using Paradise Teal Archival ink (with items being masked off as needed) and the sand had Saffron Archival ink added through the Tim Holtz Dot Fade layering stencil (THS006).  The background stamping isn't perfect in places but I don't mind as it simply adds interest.  After all, under the sea, you wouldn't always see a clear image!
