Tag Tuesday: Anything Goes

This tag was made for the Tag Tuesday fortnightly challenge.  As this time round the prompt is Anything Goes, I decided to push the boat out and go way out of my comfort zone.  I'm also entering this into the Welove2create challenge 'Anything Goes'.

For a change, I used an MDF tag from a set by CleverCut.  There are four different sizes in the pack of 15 and I chose one of the second smallest in the pack (8.7cm x 12.8cm).  I gave it a coat of white Pebeo gesso all over, then once dry painted it with black metallic paint (Docrafts Artiste).

To add some interest, I then dry brushed Pebeo Iridescent Silver Acrylic paint lightly over both sides, before piping some of the Pebeo Transparent Mixtion Relief in patterns over the surface.  This was left to dry for an hour, before silver foil was added.  As you can see, my piping technique is not fabulous and in places the relief wasn't dry enough and pulled off when the foil sheet was removed.
The next part was the most fun.  I added Pebeo Fantasy Prisme paint in Onyx and Emerald, as well as Fantasy Moon paint in Metal Blue, Turquoise and Veil of Smoke randomly into the areas and pulled the colours into each other using coffee stirrers.  I tried to balance the colours out and create interesting patterns, but the beauty of these products is that you are never sure exactly what the end result will be.  Once I was happy with the effect, I added a couple of drops of the Vitrail Glitter Medium in places for added 'bling'. I was happy with the final result for a first attempt on a tag, although next time I will try and get my piping smoother, leave the Mixtion to dry for a little longer and probably not cover such a big area of the tag; less is more?
