JJJ and Mindful Art Challenge 14: Purple, Gold, Cream and Lessons Learned

I will only just get this page submitted to Junk Journals Junkies and Mindful Art in time today, as the new challenge will be starting later on.  I was inspired to get out my Gelatos again having watched Kay Halliwell-Sutton demonstrating them yesterday.

As the pages of my junk journal notebook are cream, using Gelatos made great sense for the background; I was intending to lift them off through a stencil to reveal the page beneath.  I started by blending four colours onto the pages, Raspberry, Black Cherry, Grape and Metallic Grape.  To start with I blended them out with my fingers, then used a damp baby wipe to smooth out the background.
I then took the large 'Speckles' Layering Stencil by Tim Holtz (THS021) and removed the layer of Gelatos off the page in four places with a wet wipe to reveal the cream page beneath.  I wasn't too worried about pressing on hard and any seepage beneath the stencil, as I was aiming for a grungy, water mottled look anyway.

I used the mini Splatters layering stencil, also by Tim Holtz (THMS009) and the same process to add rings and a large splatter.  As I didn't want the Gelatos to move following this step, I followed Kay's advice and used a spatula to smooth a thin layer of Distress Collage Medium all over the pages, drying everything off with a heat gun to seal the background.
Having dusted the pages with an antistatic pad, I used the Word Chain Alphabet by Claritystamp to add the quote; 'No Regrets, just Lessons Learned' onto the page.  For this I used Versamark ink and Detail Bright Gold embossing powder by Cosmic Shimmer.  I then went round each letter with a purple micron pen by Sakura to help the words stand out against the background.
