Mum's Drawers: Verona

I decorated this set of drawers for my mother's birthday.  They came as a flat pack and although time consuming, my mother loved the finished article and I was happy with the way they came out too.

They are the Verona drawers (Forever Moments by Tonic Studios).  The first requirement was to put together the MDF drawer frame and glue the eight drawers together.  Once complete, everything was given two coats of white gesso, allowing each coat to dry before the next was added.
The frame was given a coat of bronze acrylic paint and the drawers were painted black.  The kit comes with the heavy card drawer fronts and covers for the sides, back and top of the base frame; these can be painted in a contrasting colour or covered with paper.  I decided to stick to a palette of black/dark grey and bronze, so the drawer fronts were painted in the same acrylic bronze as the base and the panels for decorating the back, top and sides of the base were covered in a dark grey paper from the Timeless Texture stack by DCWV.  There is also a matching set of dies which cut a fancy front the same size as the drawer front panels.  I cut these from black pearlescent card.  Once all the panels had been glued into place with strong acrylic glue, the paper decorated panels were given two coats of matt medium to seal and protect them, with time to dry between each layer.
