Alcohol Pens on Acetate

I finally finished the background for the tag that I made last week.  I had tried an effect with masking and blending distress inks on white card - sorry I don't have a picture - but really wasn't happy with the effect.  Then I happened to see someone demonstrating alcohol pens and blending solution on acetate and loved the effects.

Brusho Background

I've been playing with my Brusho colours today.  In the past when I've used them, I've sprinkled the powder on first, then spritzed the card with water.  This time I decided to see what would happen if I spritzed the card first.

Tag Topper

My version
As yet, this is incomplete.  I am planning on using this on a card, but haven't yet decided where I'm going with it next - ideas welcome!  The background for the stamp was inspired by the Sunset tag design by Barbara Gray which came with #111 in the Clarity New Design Stamp Club.

Cricut Football Card

This card is a clean and simple card; good for using up scraps and the colours can be adapted to fit the team supported by the recipient.

Messy Layers Background: Part 2

Having created the basic background yesterday using distress inks, paints and a stencil, today I added stamped elements to the background to provide texture and further depth.
The starting point for today's layers.

A Layered Messy Background

I haven't finished this background yet; it will form the base of a man's birthday card and has stamping and embossing to add to it yet.  I did want to share the process that I go through when designing a card and I really have no idea how it's going to end up yet!

Button Topper

This is another card which was inspired by a design in the first Creative Expressions Project Book.  It's another card suitable for both men or women depending on the colour scheme and toppers used.

Large Easel with Acetate Window

I can't remember where I got the inspiration for this card, but it is my interpretation of a card I saw in a magazine - so thank you to the original designer.  I also (sadly) do not have any more of the double sided 12x12 card anymore, which I used as the basis for my colour palette.  It was a series of 5 or 6 different lots of card; plain on one side and patterned on the other in brown, pale blue and cream.

Four Way Easel Card

This card looks far more complicated to make than it actually is and has the advantage that it folds flat for posting.  I made it 15cm x 15cm, but any square can be used for the base; adjust the other measurements accordingly.

Mum's Drawers: Verona

I decorated this set of drawers for my mother's birthday.  They came as a flat pack and although time consuming, my mother loved the finished article and I was happy with the way they came out too.

Thank You Frame

It seemed appropriate that the first card of the new year be a thank you card; following the lovely gifts that I received for Christmas.  I have been wanting to try out the technique for the background for some time.

Place Mat Present: Part 2

Happy New Year everyone and welcome back to my blog.  Here is the second and last example of the coaster set that I decorated for one of my sisters for Christmas.  I decorated the coasters on both sides again, but this time using a brighter colour palette.
