Clean and Simple Christmas

When I first started card making, I bought some packs of ready made cards and envelopes.  These days I tend to make my own base cards most of the time, so when I came across these packs of red and green cards in my stash, I decided to create some clean and simple cards and use up some of my scraps.

I had to make a few cards for my husband's work colleagues, so decided to keep things clean and simple; either red on green or green on red.  The base cards came in packs of fifty 7" x 5" cards with matching envelopes, so I rooted through my scrap box and found all the scraps of plain red or green card that I could find.  I experimented with a few different dies, but this was the one that I used the most often: the Grand Joyeux Noel die by Memory Box (I do teach French and German after all!).  I cut pieces of card 4.5" wide by whatever length I could get the other way and cut the sentiment from the top.  As you can see from the second photo, sometimes the sentiment came higher up the card, depending on the size of my scrap piece.
I also used the Peace die by Sue Wilson and Creative Expressions as well as the 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' die from one of the Indulgence Christmas Sentiments sets by Tonic Studios.
I used the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th dies in; I chose not to cut out the centre of the panel, although there is a 7th inner die if you wish to do so.
