Butterfly, Butterfly Sympathy Card

This card was made in memory of a fellow crafter who finally lost her battle with cancer after many years of battling the illness.  It is coming up to the anniversary of her death in the new year, so I wanted to share this card in her memory.

I cut three of the Cheery Lynn Small Lace Butterfly from pink, purple and light blue card and the Angel Wing from matching vellum.  The pink background was cut to 6.75" x 6.75" and the Butterfly punch around the page set by Martha Stewart Crafts was used to create the butterfly edge.  This was matted first onto purple pearlescent card and the corners rounded; then onto pale blue card, leaving a narrow border and rounding the corners to match.
The 'Thinking of You' sentiment was stamped onto white card, using Magenta Hue Archival ink; die cut using a Labels 8 die from Spellbinders; Spun Sugar distress ink was blended round the edge before the die was removed.  A length of pink harlequin ribbon was folded under each side of the label before it was added to the card.  Once the angel wings had been added to the butterflies (glued only along the centre of each butterfly), foam pads were added along the body of each butterfly so that the wings would have some movement.  Apologies for the quality of the photos, but the picture of this card was taken with a mobile phone some time ago.
