Christmas Bauble Zentangle

I have been wanting to try the 'cling film' background technique for a while; this seemed like a good opportunity. This technique only works with water based ink so I am entering it in the Monday Challenge on SimonSays Stamp

I used a brayer to apply Pitch Black and Slate Adirondack ink to a piece of A5 coated Clarity card.  Once I had finished covering the card with ink, I lightly sprayed a piece of cling film (plastic wrap) with water; laid it onto the card, ensuring that the whole surface was covered; scrunched the film up in places to move the ink and left the whole thing to dry.  The bauble topper was made by stamping the Zendoodle Baubles stamp by Personal Impressions onto an A6 (14.8cm x 10.5cm) piece of gloss black card.  I used Versamark ink and heat embossed with Cosmic Shimmer detail silver embossing powder.  The zentangle was added using a silver metallic pen by Sakura.  I then used a glue pen, to add silver glitter around the edges of the topper.
Once the background panel was dry, I removed the cling film; buffed up the surface with a piece of kitchen towel and stamped and heat embossed the verse down the right hand side.  I used silver embossing powder again, but next time I would use black; the verse doesn't stand out from the background as much as I would like.  I also added charcoal glitter all round the edge of the background panel.  The ribbon was used to cover up an imperfection in the glitter edge of the background panel along the bottom.  Once the ribbon had been neatened at the back, the panel was added to an A5 landscape, black card blank.  The topper was added using foam pads; both for added dimension and to allow for the thick ribbon (black velvet) underneath.
